Q. HOW MANY MONTHS OF THE YEAR DO YOU DIVE.
A. Harrogate BSAC members dive every month of the year (well some of us)
If not in the sea we are at Capernwray Quarry training over the winter
months or other in land sites like Hodge Close or Wastwater in the Lakes.
Q. HOW OLD ARE YOUR MEMBERS.
A. We have members from 12 years old to or oldest at 84 and still diving.
Q. DO I NEED TO BUY LOTS OF EQUIPMENT.
A. No. At the start we provide every thing you need, all you need is shorts and a t-shirt.
As you progress we advise you to get your own Mask and then fins and once open water
qualified you can start to put your own kit together.
Q. HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE.
A. There are 6 lectures which you can attend or online e-learning
A 25 question multiple choice exam
Minimum of 6 pool lessons (may need more if struggling on anything)
And 4 open water dives (over 2 days again may need more)
This can all be done several ways
1. lectures online and 2 weekends
2. at your own pace with help from our instructor team and to a time scale
that fits your busy life. But usually one about 12 weeks.
Q. What can I do after qualifying
A. You will be able to dive to the depth you qualified at, hopefully 20 meters.
And can then progress to the sea to gain experience, before moving on to
Sports Diver !
Q. Is my Qualification reconised everywhere.
A.Yes BSAC Qualifications are renowned the world over as being a very high level
of training.
